Bodegas Borsao Cabriola 2016
Bodegas Borsao Cabriola 2016
The new impressive red blend 2016 Cabriola mixes Garnacha with Syrah and a touch of Carinena (Mazuelo), and despite its 15.5% alcohol, it feels harmonious and balanced in an XL way. It comes in a heavy Burgundy bottle, closed with a quality cork, and it all feels like a more expensive wine. It has a modern profile, but the oak is neatly integrated and folded into the fruit that is ripe and juicy. The tannins are fine and the flavors focused. The price feels too good to be true (if it retails in Spain for 11). They produced 96,000 bottles that were filled after 12 months in oak barrels

Tasting Notes
Full-bodied, yet fresh and lively, this red delivers bold flavors of cherry compote, dried fig, cocoa, toast and licorice. Light, firm tannins and citrusy acidity keeps this focused. Garnacha, Syrah and Mazeulo

Winery
This winery is located in Borja, in the northwestern part of the region of Zaragoza. They represent the origin of D.O. Campo de Borja, "The Grenache Empire", as many like to say, and actually is one of the main producers of Garnacha (Grenache) in the world.
Bodegas Borsao controls about two-thirds of all the Grenache vineyards planted in the region while remaining as a cooperative of about 400 members that own about 3,700 acres of plots.
Although Borsao has been in existence since 1957, it wasn't until their partnership with Chris Ringland, the famous Neozelandese winemaker, that they gained broad recognition. Safe to say that this is a very well-known winery also outside of Spanish borders
