Experience the mastery of Red Blends from the Catalan winemaking regions . A superb lineup representing some of the top-rated producers in the area:

  1. Mas Doix - Salanques 2018:.Robert Parker, 94 pts:

"I find the 2018 Salanques to be unusually oaky, with plenty of spices and smoke on the nose and grainy tannins on the palate. It's an old-vine blend of 65% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 10% (younger) Syrah that fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and matured in 50/50 new and second use French oak barrels for 14 months."

  2. Alvaro Palacios - Camins del Priorat 2021:  A Catalan classic! Camins del Priorat is produced from eight different villages throughout Priorat. 40% Garnacha, 20% Samsó, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, plus others.

James Suckling, 91 pts: "Hints of stewed herbs to the nicely baked cherries, strawberries and some hibiscus and dark spices. Fruity, medium-bodied on the palate with fine-grained tannins and a fresh, medium-long finish.

  3. Clos Erasmus - Laurel 2018: While Clos Erasmus comes from the same parcels year after year, Laurel has been slowly evolving in the vineyard and cellar. Laurel is sourced from younger vines of Garnatxa planted on costers in Aubagues, Garnatxa, Syrah, and Cabernet from the warm terroir of Socarrats, and Garnatxa and Syrah from Guinarderes. The final blend is roughly 75% Garnatxa, 20% Syrah, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Based largely on younger vines and years of toil to establish these sites and properly farm them following organic and biodynamic principles, it would be wholly inappropriate to view Laurel as a second wine. If Daphne had not already established herself as one of the most talented vignerons in the Priorat with Clos Erasmus, she would be a leading contender with Laurel. Aged in large oak vats, concrete tanks, second and third-fill French oak barrels, and clay amphorae, the complexity of the élevage is reflected in the wine, which always shows an ethereal and aromatic complexity, translucent ruby color, with red fruit more than black fruit character buttressed with subtle tannins.
